Apprenticeship scheme

We’d like to announce that we have taken on three more apprentices! The apprentice scheme runs in collaboration with both Bridgwater and Strode College’s, and has proved to be highly successful for all involved. We have fully trained five apprentices so far in a variety of positions at St Cuthberts Mill.

Our newest apprentices are Charlotte Broom in the main office. Charlotte is currently working as an office apprentice. We also welcome Jordan Boulton and Andrew Swain who are training as Papermakers.

The training period will last 18 months with both Bridgwater and Strode Colleges checking on their progress along the way.

”The apprenticeship scheme has been amazing for St Cuthberts Mill. We’ve used the programme successfully to recruit the next generation of papermakers with the craft of making the high quality artists paper made at the mill” commented Catherine Frood, Marketing Executive.

Mill fact - Chimney

The mill's chimney is over 100 years old, having been constructed in 1897 costing £1,735 ( a huge amount in those days). The bricks were laid in a single layer, spiralling upwards to 168 feet high (51m).

We're back to work as usual - Wishing you all a fantastic 2016!
